Helios 3 Technology - The Mission rods are built on the back of Helios 3 technology and construction. Orvis has built the Mission rods to have a strategically reinforced rod blank to maximize strength without increased overall weight. Helios 3 tech creates a blank that tracks beautifully, takes a truer path to the target, and can land a fly accurately from anywhere.
Hard Chrome Stripping Guides w/SiC Insert - Hard chrome stripping guides keep the Mission rods lightweight and functional. These guides feature a SiC insert for minimal line friction and added durability.
Hard Chrome Snake Guides - Hard chrome snake guides are a classic in contemporary fly fishing and there’s a reason most major manufacturers use these guides… they’re simple, effective, and stand up to weather and wear.
Type III Anodized Aluminum w/Double Downlocking Component - The reel seat on the Mission combines durability and craftsmanship. Grey anodized aluminum ensures maximum strength and a solid aluminum insert keeps the rod sleek and stylish. A double dowlocking component anchors large reels in place during long days on the water.

The new design features Michelin Hybrid Outdoor Extreme technology on the outer edge and under-toe zones for reliable, wet rubber, out-of-water traction and durability. Inside that rubber you’ll find grippy, long-lasting felt that grabs well on slick rocks. This felt zone also allows for the buildout of an optional custom stud pattern for even more traction. The upper is made of quick-drying Clarino® microfiber that provides a better strength-to-weight ratio than traditional leather. A cast PU upper eliminates seams while providing a zoned cage for added stability, grip, and extreme abrasion resistance without the added bulk. PRO Textured Power Taper Fly Lines offer increased surface area, allowing the line to sit higher in the water, offering less drag, easier mending, less water spray and easier pick-ups. The micro-textured surface traps air to provide increases in both shootability and floatation while decreasing friction.
The advanced compound taper design allows for easier turn-over of heavier rigs, including larger dries, dry-dropper rigs, nymphs, and streamers. The Power Taper will load a rod deeper and quicker than a traditionally weighted line, helping to enhance "feel" and improve timing during the cast.
