Saltwater-grade rods in this price category are usually better utilized as a coat hanger than a fishing tool. The Ion XL series does not fit that mold. Featuring a remarkably low swing-weight and a more forgiving action, the Ion XL is equally at home stripping flesh flies as it is dropping a merkin to a tailing permit. All models feature salt corrosion-resistant componentry.

When bait gets nervous and fish start busting the surface, anglers need a tool to deliver a fly, quickly and precisely. The Blitz series of fly rods combines years of knowledge and experience on both coasts while targeting hard-fighting, lightning-fast fish. This rod was designed to allow anglers to have the confidence to know when they spot a pod of bait busting the surface, they can quickly load and deliver a fly, often at distance and with lines of varying densities, without worrying about anything else.
About
The Blitz is a fast action rod, with a mid-level of stiffness to deliver heavy lines, and large flies at distance. This is ideal for anglers fishing long intermediate and sinking lines and weighted flies.
The result is that the Blitz series fly rods stabilize faster and smoother, absorb shock better and comfortably tolerate over-loading. The angler benefits because Axiom technology virtually eliminates the ability to overpower the rod when casting. Bottom line – whether you carry more line in the air or push the rod to the limit, you won’t feel any mushiness – What you will feel is the line ripping out of your hand as it launches.
The Blitz rod features TFO’s patented and exclusive Axiom technology. The series is constructed with high-modulus carbon fiber material and an embedded double-helix of Kevlar within the blank. The Blitz features premium quality cork handles with burl accents and features silver, fully anodized aluminum reel seats with built-in hook keepers.
All seven models feature alignment dots color coded by line weight, RECOIL guides by REC, and ultra-lightweight chromium-impregnated stainless-steel snake guides. All models are full wells grips with fighting butts. Blitz blanks are finished in a deep turquoise, with dark blue thread wraps and silver tipping.
All Blitz rods are packaged in a labeled rod sock and rod tube.
The Blitz series delivers exceptional casting performance and efficiency that when combined with TFO’s no-fault lifetime warranty make them the perfect choice when distance and accuracy are key. TFO. Fish The Original.

Fishing for big trout using streamers is evolving at unapparelled pace. One of the people pushing the envelope of equipment and technique is Kelly Galloup. Building flies that look more at home in the ocean that a trout river Kelly has developed specific equipment to fish larger bulky flies efficiently. He wanted a rod that can quickly deliver a cast to a target the size of a coffee cup using a big fly and sinking line. Rods that can get the job done are ones with powerful bottom sections mated to faster tip actions to help initiate the cast with a minimum of false casts. Since it is all but impossible to pick up and recast a 50-foot shot with a fast sinking lines the new StreamerX rods have been optimized to easily pick up a short line with a bulky fly and in a few false cases hit a small target.
To accomplish the task Kelly asked for a rod with with several upgrades from his former Bank Robber signature rod.
Upgrades
Thinner and faster tip for animating the fly and detect strikes for hook set.
Flex in the mid section of the rod to open up the cast and throw tighter loops.
A faster butt section. This is where the bulk of the kinetic energy is created and stored to deliver the fly on the forward stroke. Work smart not hard and deliver flies with the greatest efficiency.
StreamerX rods are all 9’ long and come in a 6, 7, and 8 weight. They have all titanium guides and Kelly’s favorite handle shape. They come with a hard case and are 4 pieces to travel well.
With Kelly’s custom handle shape, powerful bottom section and fast loading top section, this rod is build top to bottom for big flies and accuracy. If current conditions call for smaller flies, it will continue to surprise you with its versatility!

New Helios Is an Extension of Your Mind.
After years in extensive development, I can say for certain there are zero compromises with these sticks. Just maximum performance that take the caster into complete flow-state accuracy, from eye to fly, picking targets and not just putting the shot in the box but putting it on the money. The only real excuse we all have left now is, well, fly selection.”
